The big “perfume factories” as some call them, have played a decisive role in the industrialization of the perfume and beauty business.
Those of beauty are a little more recent than perfumery, and it is always a delight to rediscover them, especially since almost all of them, Piver, Bourjois, Houbigan, Pinaud, Violet etc. have almost disappeared. Aside from Guerlain which is an exception, some have tried to be reborn like Gellée Frères, Bully and a few others, very few have succeeded in surviving time.
DORIN is one of them, maybe even the only one.
Here are some elements that will allow those who are interested to walk in this universe very different from the one we know now.
A little Dorin story :
A visit to the Dorin museum is possible: https://dorin.paris/fr/content/musee-dorin
For those interested in these stories, let us recall the remarkable work of Rosine Lheureux: Une histoire des Parfumeurs published by Champ Valon which rightly reminds us of the role of Universal Exhibitions in the recognition of the Perfume & Beauty industries.
Lets have a good trip in the XIXè century.
